A movie I watched recently
I’ve always considered that when a fictional work is able to make you feel something using their different narrative techniques, that work becomes much more memorable. And I’m not talking only about joy or anger, as those are the most common one. I’m talking about when something makes you feel intrigued, uneasy, confused, or simply is thought provoking. And the movie that I’m gonna talk about today was able to do all that and even more. “Perfect Blue” is a 1997 Psychological Thriller animated movie, directed by Satoshi Kon. The movie follows the ex pop idol Mima Kirigoe, who, after leaving her musical group, debuts as an actress in an adult televisión drama. The movie centers around how she struggles to break into the showbiz, while dealing with the pressure of being a television star and the harassment of her fans, slowly descending into madness.
